ACTION PLAN WORKSHOP

In early 2008, MARC was awarded funding from the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Eco-Logical grant program, which supports making infrastructure more sensitive to wildlife and ecosystems through greater interagency cooperation and conservation.

In February 2008, MARC and FHWA hosted a two-day workshop that brought together experts in the fields of conservation and transportation planning and representatives of local government, and served as a kickoff in seeking solutions for better integration of conservation and transportation planning in the Kansas City region. Participants reviewed existing resources and best practices, and identified policy and process changes needed to achieve better integration.
